Creative Processes?

I had already forgotten that we had a blog. I am the tech savvy member of jointPredicament. Which means I can attach a photo to an email. I was also the tech savvy employee of a theatre company this year because I could change the ink in the printer. Watch out.

My side of the ocean spent some time with our 'script' this week. "Sorry..." in many ways is far from a text-based play- just reading the words that were spoken gives you very little idea of what happened. I know that this is the case for many theatre pieces. Theatre is ephemeral, etc. I just wish there was a way we could preserve what happened in that adorable theatre with lovely audiences of good people. Maybe that is what is missing in a text- an audience full of faces, that we sit amongst, that we see enter and can smile and wave at, these people who joined us on that short ride of crazy nerves and familiar moments and "internal monologues that prevent us from living" as Alice so eloquently put it. Of people who accepted our paintings, who hung them on their walls or fridges or threw them straight in the bin. Of people who got up and played dance tag after our last show. Who said it was "too short."

An incredible friend of mine and his girlfriend attended. Neither of them are "theatre-going" people, perse... he's incredibly supportive and sees everything I do. This is now nearly four months later and they remembered almost every scene. That's good, right?

It is time for us to get this show on the road again, to modify, to change, to get frustrated and excited. This is the first show that I've looked back on after four months and had way, way more than just those lovely warm fuzzy memories. This isn't done yet.
