Sorry.. I was going to turn it into something beautiful

I am ever so pleased to introduce the internet to jointPredicament- a UK based theatre company consisting of five applied theatre and community-based artists who are in love with creating and meeting new people and sharing stories and ideas and working together. While writing our MA dissertations (we met while doing our MAs in Applied Theatre from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, UK) we drank a lot of tea, ate a lot of muffins, spent a lot of time thinking we were crazy, spent a lot of nights awake and realized that we needed to be creating art as well as studying theories behind its many wonderful uses. The idea of making a play was kicked around and suddenly we were in the thick of a short intense creating process.

Laughter, tears, unintentional therapy, self-doubt, indulgences, confusion, and millions and gazillions of questions ensued. Our first piece is titled "Sorry... I was going to turn it into something beautiful". Portions were performed as a workshop in Camden in London, and after changes and modifications and our lives changing we performed at the Montreal Fringe Festival this past summer, to acclaim that really surprised and pleased us. We fell in love with people we met, hard and fast. We facilitated games with audience members, we were too scared to advertise most days because we didn't want to bother anyone. We learned and danced and ate (and ate!) and drank sangria and generally felt really whole and good.

And so the adventure continues. I (Meg) am the annoying 'International' member of the company- living across the ocean in Canada. This makes rehearsing and performing more of a challenge, but we're doing our best to make it work. Alice and Lorna are living in London, Chelle is in Cardiff (for now) and Vicky's in Sheffield. We all make our livings doing community-based art and/or education work (in so many exciting ways with so many exciting people). Thanks for reading this, whoever you may be. We are unsure about just what we will be on the internet, especially with our somewhat limited computer skills. But here we are!
